This 7 page free printable worksheet is designed to help children build emotional awareness and self-regulation skills in a developmentally appropriate way.
It includes straightforward, engaging exercises that encourage reflection and discussion about feelings.
While this resource can be used by parents, caregivers, or educators to support emotional learning, it is not a therapeutic tool and should not replace guidance from a qualified mental health professional.
How To Use This Resource:
- Create a calm space-Find a quiet, comfortable spot where your child can focus without distractions. Gather any materials needed, such as crayons, paper, or bubbles.
- Go at your child’s pace-Let your child explore the activities in their own time. You can do one section at a time or pick the exercises that feel most relevant for them.
- Participate together-Join in the activities with your child. Laugh at the silly drawings, blow bubbles together or help name tricky thoughts. Your involvement models healthy ways to cope with thoughts.
- Use the language of the workbook –Encourage your child to use phrases like “I’m having the thought that…” or give thoughts a silly name. This reinforces the idea that thoughts are separate from reality.
- Talk & reflect-After completing an activity, check in with your child about how they feel. Ask open-ended questions like, “What did that activity make you notice about your thoughts?”
- Seek support if needed-This workbook is a supportive tool, but if worries feel overwhelming or persistent, consider consulting a child psychologist or your GP.
